It takes about two years to become a pharmacy technician People who have completed a pharmacy technician program or have on-the-job training can take the Certification Exam for pharmacy technicians administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Once they pass this exam, they are considered certified pharmacy technicians.
