The History of Texas Tech

The school was originally known as the South Plains Agricultural and Mechanical College, but the name was changed to Texas Technological College in 1925. The university is located on a 1,839-acre campus in Lubbock, Texas. As of Fall 2019, there are 36,550 students enrolled at Texas Tech. The student body is diverse, with students coming from all 50 states and more than 100 countries.
