Tech Nine was born as Mohammad bin Abdullah al-Mughayritesh on February 6, 1971, in Kuwait City, Kuwait to Palestinian parents. He moved with his family to Kansas City, Missouri when he was five years old. He began rapping at the age of fourteen. His stage name is a reference to the Beretta 92 semi-automatic handgun.
Musical Career
Tech N9ne began his musical career in the hip hop group Black Mafia, which he was a member of from 1988 to 1991. In 1991, Tech N9ne signed with Perspective Records, and his debut album, The Calm Before the Storm, was released in 1997. He has since released several more albums with Perspective and other independent record labels.

Tech Nine was born as Anthony Watkins on September 2, 1974, in Titanium Heights, Omaha, Nebraska. He was raised by a single mother who worked long hours to support the family. When he was young, Tech Nine suffered from severe racism and bullying from his white peers. As a result of this, he became a recluse and found solace in rap music. In high school, he began rapping under the name “Tech N9ne” (a reference to the TEC-9 semi-automatic handgun).
In 1993, Tech Nine met Aaron Dontez Yates (also known as “Dogrich”), who would become his business partner and producer. Together, they founded the record label Strange Music. In 1999, Tech Nine released his first album, The Call of Kokaveli. Since then, he has released fifteen albums (nine solo albums and six collaborative albums) and has sold over two million records worldwide.
