Introduction
In Colorado, estheticians, cosmetologists, and manicurists are allowed to perform eyelash extensions after completing a lash extension course approved by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies’ (DORA) Division of Professions and Occupations (DPO). As of July 1, 2019, DORA-DPO no longer approves any lash extension courses.
However, you may take a course from a Lash Extension School that is nationally accredited by the National Accreditation Commission for Cosmetology Arts & Sciences (NACCAS). The school will provide you with a certificate of completion that you can submit to DORA-DPO as part of yourlash extension license application.
You must also have a current Colorado license in good standing as an esthetician, cosmetologist, or manicurist. If your out-of-state license is from a state with requirements similar to Colorado’s, you may also apply for licensure by endorsement.
Once you have met all the requirements, you can apply for a lash extension license through DORA’s Online Services Portal. The fee for the initial 2-year license is $55.
