Research your state’s requirements.
Each state has different requirements for becoming a pharmacy technician Most states require you to complete a training program and pass a written exam. Some states also require you to pass a background check. You can find out your state’s specific requirements by visiting the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy website.
Once you have completed your training and met all of your state’s requirements, you will need to apply for a pharmacy technician license. You will need to submit an application, pay a fee, and possibly take an exam. Complete a pharmacy technician training program.
Before you can sit for the pharmacy technician license exam, you need to complete a pharmacy technician training program. These programs are typically offered at community colleges, technical schools and some hospitals. Some programs can be completed in as little as six weeks, while others may take up to two years to complete.
In order to be eligible for licensure, most states require that you complete an accredited training program. The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) is the body responsible for accrediting pharmacy technician programs. Be sure to check with your state board of pharmacy to verify that the program you’re interested in is properly accredited.

Register with the state’s pharmacy board.
The first step to becoming a licensed pharmacy technician is to register with the state’s pharmacy board. In most states, this can be done online, and you will need to provide some basic personal information, such as your name, address, and contact information. Once you have registered with the board, you will be given a unique identification number that you will need to use when applying for jobs or taking the pharmacy technician certification exam
Pass the state’s pharmacy technician exam.
In order to become a pharmacy technician, you will need to pass the state’s pharmacy technician exam. This exam is a multiple-choice exam that tests your knowledge of the pharmacy technician profession. The exam is offered by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP).
Maintain your pharmacy technician license.
pharmacy technicians must renew their registration every year. To renew, you will need to:
-Submit a completed renewal form
-Pay the annual registration fee
-Complete at least 10 hours of continuing education (CE) If you do not complete the required CE, you will not be able to renew your registration and will have to retake the licensure exam.
