Currently, there are six (6) AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician programs located in the state of Connecticut. A list of these programs can be found here: http://www.avma.org/ProfessionalDevelopment/education/cvea/programs/states/ct.asp
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is recognized as the accrediting body for veterinary technology programs by the united states Department of Education. The Connecticut Board of Examiners for Veterinary Medicine recognizes AVMA-accredited programs, as well as those accredited by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA).
Programs that are not accredited by either the AVMA or CVMA may also qualify if they are judged to be equivalent to an AVMA or CVMA accredited program by an independent credentialing agency that specializes in the evaluation of foreign and non-traditional educational credentials. An example of such an agency is World Education Services, Inc. Other agencies may be used if approved by the Board. Documentation from the credentialing agency must be provided to the Board office with the application for licensure.
Applying to a Veterinary Technician Program
Before applying to a veterinary technician program, you should first research each individual program to find one that best meets your needs and interests in order to have the best chance for admission into your top choice(s).
