While the tech suit has been a staple in the world of competitive swimming for some time, many swimmers are still unsure of how to properly put one on. In this blog post, we’ll show you how to put on a tech suit so that you can take full advantage of its benefits.
Checkout this video:
A tech suit is a specialized piece of swimwear that is designed to provide swimmers with an aerodynamic advantage. Tech suits are made of compression fabric, which helps to reduce drag and increase speed in the water. While tech suits can be expensive, they can give swimmers a significant competitive edge.
If you’re preparing to compete in a swimming meet or event, it’s important to know how to put on a tech suit correctly. Improperly putting on a tech suit can damage the fabric and reduce its effectiveness. Follow the steps below to ensure that you’re putting on your tech suit correctly.
What is a tech suit?
A tech suit is a specially designed piece of swimwear that is made to be extremely tight fitting in order to provide the wearer with an aerodynamic advantage. Tech suits are allowed in competition by most swimming governing bodies, but they are not required and many swimmers choose not to wear them. While tech suits can be expensive, they can also last for many years if properly cared for.
How to put on a tech suit
You’ve probably seen tech suits in the Olympics or on swimming channels and wondered how on earth do they put those things on? Or maybe you’ve been to a swimming meet and seen someone in a tech suit and thought to yourself, “I could never get into one of those!”. Well, never say never! With a little bit of patience and following the instructions, anyone can put on a tech suit.
Step one: Open the tech suit
Most tech suits have a line running down the center of the back (sometimes called a seam) that you should line up with your spine. Open the legs of the suit and step in, being careful not to rip the material. If you’re having trouble, ask a coach or friend for help.
Step two: Step into the tech suit
Now that you have your tech suit laid out, it’s time to put it on. Starting with the legs, step into the tech suit and pull it up so that it’s snug against your body. Don’t worry if it feels a little tight at first – the material will stretch as you move. Once the legs are in place, grab the top of the suit and pull it up over your torso. Again, make sure that it’s snug against your body – you don’t want any gaps where water could get in and cause thesuit to lose its buoyancy. Finally, put your arms through the sleeves and adjust the straps so that they’re tight but not too constricting. And that’s it! You’re now ready to hit the pool in your tech suit.
Step three: Close the tech suit
Reach back and grab the bottom of the suit with both hands. Pull it up your back, keeping the fabric taut as you go. Once it’s high enough, lift your arms up and pull the suit over your head.
As you can see, there are a few key steps to putting on a tech suit. Following these steps will ensure that you get the most out of your suit and that it fits properly. If you have any questions, be sure to ask your coach or a member of the swim team. They will be able to help you with anything you need.
