Indiana Tech is a NCAA Division II school. This means that they compete in the second tier of collegiate athletics. They are a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).

How does Indiana Tech’s Division affect its students?

NCAA Division II is an athletic division of the national collegiate athletic association (NCAA). NCAA Division II athletics programs are in general smaller than those at Division I institutions. When Division II schools were first categorized in 1972, there were 300 members, whereasDivision I schools then numbered approximately 128 schools. As of 2018, there are now thrity-eightDivision II schools that sponsor football.

In contrast to largerDivision I schools, most Division II institutions do not offer athletic scholarships to offset the costs of attending college. However, some offer academic scholarships and need-based financial aid. Other less common sources of financial aid include private scholarships, work-study opportunities and student loans.

Indiana Tech’s NCAA membership means that our student-athletes compete against other institutions that share similar characteristics and academic commitments. Our conference, the great lakes intercollegiate athletic conference (GLIAC), is made up of 14 public and four private institutions located throughout Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The GLIAC is widely regarded as one of the premier NCAA Division II conferences in the Midwest and across the country.
