Texas Tech’s basketball program began to gain national prominence in the mid-1990s under head coach James Dickey. In his four seasons at the helm, Dickey led the Red Raiders to two NCAA Tournament appearances and one Sweet Sixteen appearance. He also won two conference championships, in 1996 and 1997.
