History

The term “Silicon Valley” was first used in 1971 by electronic news pioneer Don Hoefler. He used it as the title of a series of articles he wrote for Microelectronics News, a trade publication. The articles described the growth of the semiconductor industry in the Santa Clara Valley.

The Santa Clara Valley was home to a number of tech companies in the early days of the industry, including Hewlett-Packard, Fairchild Semiconductor, and Intel. The region became known for its innovative culture and cutting-edge technology.

History

Apple was founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. The company began as a computer manufacturer and eventually became one of the largest technology companies in the world. Apple is best known for its line of consumer electronics, such as the iPhone, iPad and MacBook.

History

Facebook is an online social networking service that allows its users to connect with friends and family as well as make new ones. It was founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes, who were all students at Harvard University at the time. The website’s original purpose was to make it easier for students to connect with one another and has since expanded to allow anyone 13 years or older to create an account. As of September 2012, Facebook has over 1 billion active users.

Zuckerberg had the idea for Facebook while he was studying psychology at Harvard. He originally built the site as a way for Harvard students to connect with each other but soon realized that it could be used by people all over the world. He dropped out of Harvard in 2004 to focus on Facebook full-time, and the site quickly grew in popularity. In 2005, Facebook expanded beyond Harvard and opened up to students at Stanford, Columbia, and Yale. The following year, it became available to anyone over the age of 13 with a valid email address.

Facebook went public in 2012 and is now one of the most popular websites in the world. The company has come under fire in recent years for various privacy issues, but it remains a powerful force in social media

Amazon is one of the most valuable companies in the world, with a market cap of over $1 trillion.

The first known use of the term “silicon valley” was in a 1971 article in the trade magazine Electronic News. The article is about the success of Fairchild Semiconductor. In it, journalist Don Hoefler uses the phrase to describe the close relationship between Fairchild and the military-industrial complex in Santa Clara County, California.

Uber

History

Uber was founded in 2009 by Garrett Camp and Travis Kalanick. The original idea came from Camp, who had the idea of using his private driver to chauffeur him around town. He realized that there were many other people like him who would also need such a service.

Kalnack was brought on board to help with the technical aspects of the business, and the two raised $1.25 million from various investors to get the company off the ground.

In 2010, Uber launched its first app in San Francisco and has since expanded to over 700 cities in 83 countries around the world.
