Established on February 10, 1923, and originally known as Texas Technological College, it is the flagship institution of the four-institution texas tech University System. The university’s student enrollment is the sixth-largest in Texas as of fall 2019. As of Fall 2018, there were 39,790 undergraduate and 4,784 graduate students enrolled at TTU.
Texas Tech University offers246 bachelor’s degree programs, 153 master’s degree programs, 92 fields of study for doctoral candidates through 13 colleges and holds a top tier doctoral designation from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. It has 18 associate’s and 28 doctoral degree programs offered through its Buddy Holly School of Music; it is also home to one of the nation’s largest service-learning programs. TheCarter BloodCare Center serves much of West Texas as one of the state’s primary sources for blood transfusions.
