Texas Tech’s Football History

The Red Raiders have appeared in 42 bowl games and have won 23 of them. texas tech has played in some of the most prestigious bowl games, including the Cotton Bowl, the Orange Bowl, and the Fiesta Bowl.

Texas Tech’s first bowl game was the 1936 Cotton Bowl Classic, where the Red Raiders defeated the Syracuse Orangemen, 26-12. This was Texas Tech’s only bowl appearance until 1948, when they made it back-to-back Cotton Bowls with a 28-14 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Texas Tech’s most recent bowl game was the Valero Alamo Bowl against the University of South Florida. The game resulted in a 34-38 loss for Texas Tech.

Texas Tech is playing in the Gator Bowl this year against Florida. This will be Texas Tech’s first appearance in a bowl game since 2015. Texas Tech is looking to finish the season on a high note and a win in the Gator Bowl would be a great way to do that.
