The Duke Blue Devils won their 5th NCAA National Championship on Monday night, defeating the texas tech Red Raiders by a score of 85-77. This is Duke’s 2nd National Championship in the last 5 years, and they become just the 4th team in NCAA history to win 5 or more National Championships.

The two teams last played each other in 2015, with Duke winning 66-31. In that game, Duke quarterback Thomas Sirk completed 25 of his 34 passes for 290 yards and four touchdowns, while texas tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes was just 17-of-37 for 243 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Texas Tech has only beaten Duke once in their history, a 28-13 victory in 2006. The next time they met was almost 20 years later on November 29, 1974. That game was much closer, but Duke still came out on top with a final score of 72-71. The most recent meeting between the two teams was on November 28, 2015. That game was also won by Duke with a final score of 66-56.
