Luke’s History with Linus Tech Tips

Luke has been with Linus Tech Tips (LTT) for over eight years now. He started as a moderator on the forums and has since risen through the ranks to become one of the most popular and respected members of the team. In October of 2019, however, Luke announced that he was leaving LTT to pursue other opportunities.

Luke’s role at Linus Tech Tips

Luke LaJoie, also known by his online persona, Luanke, is a former Canadian computer hardware YouTuber and streamer. He was a regular contributor to the Linus Tech Tips (LTT) YouTube channel and website, appearing in many videos and live streams, until his departure in December 2019.

Luke’s primary contributions to LTT were in the area of graphics processing units (GPUs). He was known for his “NVidia vs AMD” videos, in which he compared the performance of different graphics cards from the two companies. He was also known for his “Build Battle” videos, in which he and another LTT contributor would each build a computer based on a given budget and then compare the results.

In addition to his work with LTT, Luke also had his own YouTube channel, “Luke’s Tech Tips”, on which he uploaded videos about a variety of tech-related topics. He also streamed regularly on the Twitch platform, under the name “Luketfpd”.

Luke announced his departure from LTT in a video posted to his YouTube channel on December 19th, 2019. In the video, he stated that he had been considering leaving LTT for some time, but had stayed because he enjoyed working with the team there. However, he said that he had recently been offered an opportunity to work on a new project that was too good to pass up. While he did not reveal any details about this new project, he did say that it would be focused on GPUs and that it would be launching in 2020.

Luke’s contributions to Linus Tech Tips

Luke joined Linus Tech Tips in 2013 and has been a major contributor to the channel ever since. He has helped with reviews, build guides, and other content. In 2015, he started his own segment called Luke’s Tech Talk, where he discussed a variety of topics related to technology.

Luke is also a major part of the LTT community, having moderated the LTT forums and written many popular articles. He even has his own subreddit, /r/luketechtips.

However, in recent months Luke has been less active on the channel, and on March 12th, 2018, he announced that he was leaving Linus Tech Tips.

While we don’t know exactly why Luke is leaving, we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

The events leading up to Luke’s departure

The “WAN Show” incident

On December 15th, 2017, Linus Tech Tips uploaded a video to their YouTube channel titled “The WAN Show 12/15/2017”. The “WAN Show” is a live show that the team at Linus Tech Tips creates every Friday, in which they discuss various tech news topics. During the show, Luke had made a joke about retirement funds in regards to a news story. This joke was not well received by the viewers of the show, and many people left negative comments on the YouTube video.

The next day, on December 16th, Linus Tech Tips uploaded a second video to their YouTube channel titled “Luke’s Departure”. In this video, Luke announced that he was leaving Linus Media Group, effective immediately. He cited the negative reaction to his joke as the reason for his departure.

This event caused a lot of upset among the viewers of Linus Tech Tips. Many people were upset that Luke was leaving, and some even blamed Linus for his departure. This event also showed how toxic and negative the comment section of YouTube can be.

Luke’s apology and explanation

Hi everyone,

First of all, I want to apologize for my recent actions and the way I’ve been behaving. I know I’ve been acting out and not really being myself, and I’m sorry for that. I know a lot of you are wondering why I’ve been acting this way, and why I suddenly left Linus Tech Tips.

To be honest, the reason is that I’m just not happy with myself right now. I’m not happy with who I am or where I’m at in life, and I need some time to figure things out. That’s why I decided to leave Linus Tech Tips and take some time for myself.

I know this might be hard for some of you to understand, but please know that this is something I need to do for myself. And even though I’m leaving Linus Tech Tips, I’m still going to be around and involved in the tech community. So please don’t forget about me!

Thank you all for your understanding,

Luke

The aftermath of Luke’s departure

Luke left Linus Tech Tips on March 21, 2020, to pursue other projects. This sent shockwaves throughout the tech community as Luke was one of the faces of the channel. Linus Tech Tips is a popular YouTube channel with over 8 million subscribers. The channel is known for its lively commentary and helpful tips on building computers and fixing tech problems.

The community’s reaction

When Luke Plunkett announced he was leaving Linus Tech Tips, the community’s reaction was swift and overwhelmingly positive. Within minutes of the announcement, the top comment on Reddit was from a user who had never even heard of Luke before, saying “Good riddance, cancerous little shit.” But for the most part, people were just happy to see him gone.

Some users even went so far as to say that they would never watch another Linus Tech Tips video again now that Luke was gone. One user said, “I’m actually glad he’s gone. This place has been a lot better since he left.”

Others were more forgiving, saying that while they didn’t necessarily like Luke, they still appreciated his work on the channel. One user said, “He was a good editor and I’ll miss his editing style,” while another said, “I didn’t always agree with his choices or how he ran things but he did a lot for this channel.”

Regardless of how people feel about Luke Plunkett, it’s undeniable that his departure has left a big hole in the Linus Tech Tips community.

Linus Tech Tips without Luke

Last week, Luke Miani announced his departure from Linus Tech Tips, a popular YouTube channel with over 9 million subscribers. The channel, which is best known for its tech reviews and “unboxings,” will continue to be produced by Linus Sebastian and his team.

Miani’s departure has left many viewers wondering why he left and what the future of the channel will be without him. Luke was one of the original members of the Linus Tech Tips team, and his departure marks a significant change for the channel.

Linus Tech Tips was started in 2008 by Linus Sebastian, who was working as a computer hardware analyst at the time. In 2011, Luke Miani joined the team as a camera operator and editor. Over time, Luke became one of the faces of the channel, appearing in many of its popular videos.

In recent years, Linus Tech Tips has grown significantly, becoming one of the most popular tech channels on YouTube. With this growth has come increased scrutiny from both fans and critics. Some viewers have accused the channel of being “clickbait-y” or “pandering.” Others have accused Sebastian of being arrogant or difficult to work with.

It’s unclear what exactly led to Miani’s decision to leave, but it’s apparent that there was some tension behind the scenes. In his announcement video, Miani said that he had been thinking about leaving for “a while.” He also said that he didn’t want to leave on bad terms and that he would still be friends with Sebastian.

Miani’s departure is a blow to Linus Tech Tips, but the channel will likely continue to be successful without him. Sebastian is a well-known and respected figure in the tech community, and he has built up a large following over the years. Additionally, Linus Tech Tips has a large team of talented creators who will help fill the void left by Miani.
