Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for admission to Georgia Tech, you must meet the following criteria:
High School Coursework
The School of Architecture strongly recommends, but does not require, summer study in drawing and design for freshmen applicants. You must have completed four years of English; four years of mathematics, including precalculus or equivalent; three years of laboratory science; three years of social studies; and two years of a foreign language. Electives may not be fulfilled by remedial or proficiency coursework. We do not consider physical education, driver’s education, health or general study hall courses as electives.
Standardized Test Scores
You must submit official ACT or SAT scores to be considered for admission. If you take the ACT, we recommend that you also submit SAT scores. We accept self-reported test scores on your application, but if you are admitted and decide to enroll, we will then require that you send us official score reports.
The middle 50% of our first-year students submitting standardized test scores had the following ranges:
33-35 ACT composite
1490-1560 SAT total score ( evidence-based reading and writing + math)
GPA
To be eligible to apply to Georgia Tech, you must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in all attempted coursework. If you attended more than one school, we’ll calculate your GPA using the most recently attempted 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours. If you have fewer than 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of college coursework, we’ll use your high school GPA and SAT or ACT scores to make an admission decision. We do not have a minimum SAT or ACT score for admission, but we recommend that applicants have at least a 1070 SAT score (composite) or 23 ACT score (composite) for optimal consideration.
The Application Process

The Common Application

The Coalition Application
The Coalition for Access, Affordability, and Success is a group of over 90 colleges and universities committed to providing students with a simpler way to apply to college. The Coalition has developed a new application platform that will go live in July 2016.
The new Coalition application will have many features that students and counselors will find useful, including:
-A locker where students can store documents, like essays and forms, and save them for multiple applications
-A dashboard where students can track their progress on each application
-Integration with Naviance software, so that counselors can help their students manage the college application process
-Application fee waivers for eligible low-income students
The Georgia Tech Supplement
In order to be considered for admission to Georgia Tech, you must complete the Georgia Tech Supplement, which is found in the Member Questions section of the Coalition or Common application. You will need to answer the following short answer questions:
1. Why do you want to study engineering?
2. How did you first get interested in this field of study? What experiences (if any) have you had in this area?
3. Describe a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what lessons did you learn from the experience?
