Applying to GT

Interested in transferring to Georgia Tech? Here are the steps you need to take to make your dream a reality.

1. Research the requirements. The first step is to make sure you meet our minimum requirements for transfer admission, which include a 2.5 GPA and completion of at least 30 transferable semester hours (45 quarter hours) of coursework.

2. Choose your major. Once you’ve confirmed that you meet our minimum requirements, it’s time to start thinking about which major you want to pursue at Georgia Tech. We offer more than 130 undergraduate degree programs, so take some time to explore your options and find the one that’s right for you.

3. Submit your application. The next step is to submit your online application for admission, along with the nonrefundable $75 application fee or fee waiver request form. Be sure to indicate on your application that you are a transfer student and remember to include all required supplemental materials, such as transcripts and letters of recommendation.

4. Await notification of admission decision. Once we have received all required materials, we will review your file and notify you of our admission decision via mail within 4-6 weeks.

5. Submit final transcript(s). If you are admitted, we will require official final transcript(s) from all colleges and universities previously attended before you enroll at Georgia Tech. These should be sent directly from the institution’s registrar office to our office using the contact information below:

Office of Undergraduate Admission
Georgia Institute of Technology

Sending in Your Transcripts

One of the most important parts of your transfer application is your transcript. Your academic record is a key factor in our holistic review process and we evaluate you based on the type of courses you have taken, grades earned, and how your coursework compares to other applicants.

You will need to submit official transcripts from each college or university you have attended, even if you did not earn credit or if you withdrew from the school. If you have completed any college coursework while in high school (including dual enrollment or summer courses), you must also submit a transcript from the college or university where the coursework was completed.

Applying for Housing

To apply for housing, you must first create an online account. After you have created and logged in to your account, click on the “Apply for Housing” link. You will then be prompted to select a term for which you would like to apply for housing. The next section of the application is only required if you are requesting accommodations due to a disability. If you do not need any accommodations, you may skip this section by clicking “Continue.”
