What are the dates for Rad Tech Week?

Radiation Therapy Professionals Week is an annual, international celebration of the radiologic and radiation therapy professions. It is celebrated the third week of October (Oct. 20-26 in 2019). The weeklong event honors the men and women who perform radiologic and radiation therapy procedures as part of the medical team. These professionals work in hospitals, clinics, cancer centers and private practices around the world.

Radiation therapists use radiation to treat cancer patients. They work closely with oncologists, physicians who specialize in treating cancer, to develop a treatment plan that will give the patient the best chance for a cure.

Radiologic technologists use x-ray machines and computed tomography (CT) scanners to create images of patients’ bodies. These images are used by physicians to diagnose and treat medical conditions.

Both radiation therapists and radiologic technologists must be licensed by the state in which they practice. They must also complete continuing education credits to keep their licenses current.
