National Centers for the High-Tech Industry
There are two major metropolitan areas in Texas that are nationally recognized centers for the high-tech industry Austin and the Dallas-Fort Worth area. These two areas are home to a large number of high-tech companies and have a highly educated workforce.
Austin
Austin is one of the top metropolitan areas for high-tech industry in the united states The city is home to many major tech companies, including Apple, Dell, IBM, and AMD. In addition, the University of Texas at Austin is a leading research institution, and many startup companies are based in the city.
Dallas-Fort Worth
According to the National Business Incubation Association (NBIA), the Dallas-Fort Worth area is one of the top five metropolitan areas in the United States for high-tech industry. The NBIA defines a high-tech industry as an industry that is “knowledge-based, innovative, and capital intensive.”
Some of the high-tech industries that are headquartered in the Dallas-Fort Worth area include computer hardware and software, telecommunications, semiconductors, and biotechnology. In addition, the area is home to several research and development centers for companies such as Texas Instruments, Verizon, and Huawei.
