Chris Beard
texas tech basketball is coached by Chris Beard. He has been the head coach of the Red Raiders since 2016. Under his leadership, the basketball program has seen considerable success, including making it to the NCAA Final Four in 2019.
His Record
Under Coach Beard, the 2018-2019 season was one for the ages. The Red Raiders went to their first Elite 8 in program history and made it all the way to the National Championship game. They fell short to Virginia in a close game, but the season was still an incredible success. Collectively, Coach Beard has accumulated a record of 148-106.

His Background
Chris Beard was born in Austin, Texas, in 1971. He played college basketball at the University of Texas from 1989 to 1993. After a brief professional career, he began his coaching career as an assistant at the University of Texas-Pan American in 1996. Beard then moved on to assistant coaching positions at Angelo State University, the University of North Texas, and Clemson University before becoming head coach at McMurry University in 2006. In 2011, he was named head coach of the south carolina Upstate Spartans. He led the Spartans to their first NCAA tournament appearance in school history in 2015. In 2016, Beard was hired as head coach of the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans. He led the Trojans to their first NCAA tournament appearance since 1985 and their first ever win in the tournament with a upset victory over Purdue.
